MENTORSHIP IS A PRIVILEGE.

Last summer, Misa Hylton asked me to join a curated group of fashion creatives to be a part of an All Star Mentorship Program.
This program was a partnership with PVH Corp and was the first of its kind.
PVH, the parent company of Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, committed to a $10million global initiative to increase awareness and access to opportunities in the fashion industries for individuals from underserved and underrepresented communities.
The Misa Hylton All Star mentorship program would be held in 4 cities across the country: NY, NJ, Washington, DC and Philadelphia.
In each city, we met with uber talented creatives who were eager and excited to learn. They wanted the knowledge, access, and most importantly, community that the program provided. It was emotional to see how the mentees immediately built community and supported each other.
The 7 month mentorship culminated in a commencement ceremony where each mentee was given a certificate and each of the mentors were honored.
Meteors included Cosandra Diggs (CFDA, President), Sharifa Murdcok (KITH, Chief Impact Officer, CEO of ENVSN Festival) and Claire Sulmers ( Creator, Fashion Bomb Daily). Mentors' disciplines included fashion styling, fashion media and the business of fashion.
What initially felt like a heavy lift and was a bit scary turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life.
I say this because I do not take mentorship lightly because the words and impact you leave on someone can influence them for a lifetime.
This responsibility is not lost on me and I was honored to be able to heed the call.
