DVF's FLAGSHIP STORE HOSTED MY BOOK LAUNCH!
On Thursday, Sept 6, 2018, NYFW was kicking off but I was launching my first book titled: CAREERS IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY (https://www.tamikowhite.com/careers-in-the-fashion-industry/).
Diane Von Furstenburg’s NYC flagship store in NYC offered to host my book launch. I was floored! And grateful. And really happy! Diane Von Furstenberg is a living legend and makes the most amazing clothes for all body types. Her business prowess is what I admire most so to have someone of her stature
I knew I wanted a sophisticated and memorable book launch but had absolutely NO idea it would be as flawless and elegant as it was.
The room was filled with people I love and that love me. It was extra special to look out and see so many faces of those that have loved and supported me from all of the different seasons of my life. That was extremely fulfilling.
Misa Hylton was gracious enough to moderate the conversation where we talked about the inspiration and necessity of a book like this. DJ That Dana Game spun some classics and I showed off my Fall Faves from DVF’s fall collection - which was really hard to narrow down. The entire collection is divine!
We then sipped and shopped from 7-9pm. I donated 10% of the proceeds from the evenings sales to the Fresh Air Fund - a non-profit agency that provides free summer vacations to NYC kids. I was a Fresh Air Fund camper for several years so this was a full-circle honor for me!
