I was invited to a Garnache Day press preview dinner to taste the Garnacha /Grenache wines from Spain and France.

This wonderful 5 course meal was held on an urban oasis — a rooftop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was one fo those NYC transitional Fall evenings when rooftops are still appealing as long as the heat lamps are on.

Grenache is the French name and Garnacha is the Spanish name of this grape which is one of the most widely planted red grapes in the world.

Grenache is known for its berry flavors of bright strawberries and raspberries and notes of white pepper. It was wonderful to experience these flavors with pairings.

These wines were some of the best tasting wines I’d ever experienced. From light and crisp to full-bodied tannins, there is a blend for every palate.
